The pain of attempting to wake up early is very real. Chen was very excited about visiting the Samurai Museum today and we needed to get there at opening, which thankfully wasn’t until 10:30 am. We arrived at Shinjuku just after 10 am and started walking in the general direction of the museum, stopping to look at any shops that were open along the way. We came across an arcade and I was told if there was Mario Kart inside Chen needed to play it. Lo, the second game in the arcade was Mario Kart.
Luckily, we made it just as the Museum was opening. It was actually a pretty cool guided tour. Lots of explanations about the periods and the changes in samurai armour throughout history.
The whole experience only took about 40 minutes, so we were heading back to Shinjuku before 11:30 am and wandering around waiting for Dad to wake up. There’s been a lot of waiting for Parents to wake up on weekends this trip. Finally, it was after midday and Dad was awake and meeting us at Isetan to look for food.
I ordered a yam and egg udon even though I had no idea that slimy white stuff was yam at the time. Figured it out later. Wasn’t so bad.
Then Dad decided to take us to some far away land of the locals where apparently Mum Yee likes to hang out.But that’s cool, because we walked past a super cute donut shop!
Then after some more walking around it was time for some crepes. I’ve never had crepes in Japan and I’ve been disappointed with all the crepes I’ve ever had in my life…but dayumn if they all tasted this good, I’d eat them all the time. And then I checked my Google map and nagged Dad to take me to this ice cream shop that was only a slight detour back up to Shinjuku in Ebisu.
The it was time to head back to pick up Mum Yee for dinner…but not before we picked up some cream puffs!
