Japan 2016: Day 12 (A day of fine dining)

Chen got tired of waiting around for the lazy bugger, because I like to sleep in past the crack of dawn. He decided it was a good time to get some walking done so off he went for a nice 8km morning…and he says I’m the crazy one. Well, anyway, since he wanted to go for a walk anyway, I told him to go wait in line for a Sailor Moon x Samantha Vega collaboration launch day for when the shop opens at 11am. He got there about three hours early, was the first in line…and stayed the only people in line for the whole time.

11am launch! The excitement.

It took a few hours to figure out where the line was meant to start because there was…no one there. He kept thinking he was in the wrong place. There were a few signs with arrows on them and that was confusing. Luckily the lady inside saw him staring through the shelves like a peeping Tom, and came outside to talk to him.

When you can’t read Japanese, go for the cute stuff.

I arrived about 10:30am about bought myself some fancy bread before the shop opened and WE BOUGHT A BAG!! AND IT WAS AWESOME! It actually took me a while to decide which to get and how much, but in the end, I just  bought the one bag and a key chain. Though, we did come back in the afternoon to buy a wallet for a friend of a friend…special request.

We had a lunch appointment in Roppongi for midday, and since we like to be early for everything, head off as soon as I finished Sailormooning.

Why we didn’t think to have any Michelin-starred meals in Europe is a complete mysterious brain fart, but so glad we decided to check one out in Tokyo. Since we were sure two months in advance which nights we’d have to spend with Dad, we decided to book a lunch at Le Sputnik….woohoo cheaper! haha..The food was incredible! Japan is also one of the few places I’ll happily order bottled still water. I love their water varieties and the softer, the better.

I’m definitely not the type who thinks I have even a slightly refined palate and I’m the pickiest eater I know, but this place served some utterly amazing food; I even tried and tolerated the foie gras even though I usually can’t stomach that. Everything that was plated and served up to us was an enjoyable experience and it definitely makes me want to try more starred restaurants in the future. Lunch took about three hours and some time since starting lunch, I was informed by the parents that we’d be having fancy pants dinner at ZIPANGU that night, so we had to go home and change….and oggle our Sailor moon bag. Also, nap.

I love eating at ZIPANGU. The staff are really accommodating to me taking photos of everything for like two minutes each dish because my dad is sitting right in front of me. XD Except, I never get the dishes explained to me in much details. Dad explains a few things, but I don’t write them down, so I also forget. We had the omakase kaiseki.
