Japan 2016: Day 9 (Dial down the crazy)

When parents make you late for absolutely everything. Annoying. It’s Sunday, so we scoffed down a cheese tart breakfast and head off to Shinjuku to eat some parfait lunch at Takano. Feeling fancy. We spent about two hours in Isetan just checking out knives and Chen ended up buying a set. Since we’ve been back in Australia, he’s been dropping fruit and veggies on those knives to cut things up. *eye roll*

After lunch we walked the streets of Shinjuku and happened across a Police festival/market/something.

FINALLY, when parents were ready we head off to Kakimori to make our own notebooks. The pain of having to wait in line for ages because we didn’t get there when it opened…because the parents were late; again.
Afterwards, we went to the kitchen street, because it was only a few blocks away, and fuck – 80% of the shops were closed already because we were so frustratingly late. Luckily the knife store was still open and we managed to buy some more.

By the time we finished up at kitchen street, we were able to pick up our notebooks and they were preeeetttyyyyy…!! I was also famished, but mumsplaining was happening because heaven forbid we didn’t want to eat lunch at 2pm when we had parfait at midday. So, we were stuck scoffing down a McDonald’s burger on the way home.

Fast forward to several hours later – about 9:30pm, it was apparently time for dinner. Dad suggested we “just head downstairs” but we all know that never ends well. After finding most eateries closed we ventured back out to Shinjuku for some seriously delicious ramen. Bring on the endless flow of seaweed and oolong tea!
